Meet Dr. David Almeida, a highly qualified ophthalmologist and retinal surgeon. With an Honors B.S. from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical research from the University of Szeged in Hungary, Dr. Almeida combines comprehensive medical knowledge with an academic background. Further credentials include an MBA in healthcare management from The George Washington University and an ophthalmology residency and fellowship at the University of lowa.

Currently serving as President and CEO of Erie Retina Research; additionally, Dr. Almeida leads the Center for Advanced Surgical Exploration (CASEXERIE, CASEXMIAMI, CASEXINDIA) and the reading & imaging center, Element. He has an Impressive portfolio of over 200 peer-reviewed papers and over 250 presentations at major conferences. His research interests include geographic atrophy in the setting of advanced dry age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, complex surgery, and practice efficiency. As Principal Investigator, he has led over 60 clinical trials across all phases of development. Outside work, Dr. Almeida loves exploring the outdoors with his wife, Jasmine, and three kids. An avid guitarist and ultra-marathoner, he makes time for his many pursuits
